Let’s start the day, and what better way to kick it off than by getting your dose of Music Quotes and Coffee. Today it’s Thursday, January 2, 2020. For many people, this marks the first working day of the New Year. Have you started on your resolutions?
Today, we are going to talk about overthinking and overpreparing. And I think this comes on handy since many of us are trying to figure out our resolutions, what we plan to do, what craft to do, what books to read and such. But a very important element of getting things done is to actually start doing them. If we wait until we do all the research until we have everything that we need to get started we will never do it. So today, instead of wanting, let’s actually do something, even if it seems like a really small step. Just start. Don’t wait more time thinking about the thing, but rather get moving.
Set realistic goals along the way to keep you motivated. For instance, if you want to lose 30 pounds, set 1 pound per week goals. That will keep you on track, instead of seeing the whole picture. And how can you start? Well, a 10-minute jog is better than no run at all. And don’t get discouraged if you start slow, that’s how everyone starts. And be aware that your mind will try to boycott you (that’s just human nature). Don’t settle and push yourself a bit more than yesterday. When you feel tired, remember, you can do one more push up, one more rep. You can write an additional page, or take one more photo, read one more page. Just get started, and trust the process.
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”
